"I had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery a few years ago. My nipple was also removed, and I was told I could get a skin graft to "reconstruct" a nipple. I elected not to do this, which meant I had a plain breast, and nothing but a scar. The scar healed, but I was sad each morning looking at my breast. Then I learned that Mary Emily, a medical art professional, could do a 3D areola tattoo. I was anxious at first, not knowing what this entailed, but she was so encouraging and supportive.
